Most of the Scottish team ventured south on Saturday 18th August and accepted the courtesy of Lincoln Golf Club for a warm up game. Host Secretary Craig Innes (yes, the Craig Innes, ex Scottish Regional Captain) made us very welcome. After the game and an enjoyable buffet meal the somewhat precarious journey to Woodhal Spa was completed in the dark.
On Sunday 19th August a practice round was held over the Bracken Course and thankfully the rough had been cut by the local farmer (see photos).
The match proper began over the same course on Monday 20th and England held a 5.5 to 2.5 lead after the morning foursomes. Over the Hodgkins course in the afternoon Scotland staged a mini comeback winning by 4.5 to 3.5. This resulted in a (rare) victory for England by 9 points to seven.
